About Daraga Church
Daraga Church, also known as Nuestra Señora de la Porteria Parish Church, is one of Albay’s most treasured historical churches. Built by Franciscan missionaries in 1773, it became a spiritual home for communities in the area, including people who moved after the destruction of Cagsawa. Its stone walls, baroque-inspired details, and hilltop position tell a story of faith, craftsmanship, and endurance through generations. Visitors often come for its heritage value, solemn atmosphere, and elevated views toward Mayon and the surrounding townscape.
