Story & History
About Cagsawa Ruins
Cagsawa Ruins is one of the most meaningful landmarks in Albay. The stone bell tower is what remains of the old Cagsawa church, remembered in connection with the devastating 1814 eruption of Mayon Volcano. Today, the tower stands quietly against the dramatic shape of Mayon, becoming a symbol of Bicolano faith, resilience, and history. Visitors come not only for photos, but also to feel the story behind the place: a community marked by tragedy, preserved through memory, and now shared with travelers from around the world.
